Where It All Began

Bohemian Dreams was born over 42 years ago from the mind of a 10 year old boy watching touring Grateful Dead Heads opening up their died creations at a neighbors house. He asked to learn what they were doing to make the cool designs and they showed him. At that time there was minimal effort being placed into how those dyed pieces were being created but he saw something they didn't, because he was color blind, so the images held a unique perspective in his mind. In the next few years that young boy was able to discover common ways to replicate the symmetry he was seeing. He knew he was onto something new and exciting and shared what he had learned with the men who had taught him each time they came through town, and they shared with him what they had learned as well. From those early moments a deep desire to create vibrant patterns and designs with a fresh perspective and a belief that clothing should feel as alive as the person wearing it. What started as a creative outlet — experimenting with dyes, folds, and fabric in a small basement — grew into something we couldn't keep to ourselves. Each design that emerged felt too vibrant, too joyful, too full of life to stay hidden.

So we shared it. And the response was everything.

The Craft Behind Every Piece

Tie-dye is one of the oldest textile arts in the world, and we honor that tradition with every piece we create. Our process is entirely hands-on — no shortcuts, no mass production, no two pieces exactly alike.

Here's how each piece comes to life:

• Fold & Tie — Each garment is hand-folded, twisted, or pleated using traditional techniques: spiral, crumple, accordion, and more. The fold determines the pattern; the tying holds the magic in place.
• Dye with Intention — We use vibrant, high-quality fiber-reactive dyes chosen for their richness and longevity. Colors are layered and blended by hand to create depth, movement, and that signature bohemian glow.
• Set & Reveal — After the dye sets, each piece is carefully rinsed, washed, and unwrapped — a moment of pure discovery. No two reveals are ever the same.
• Quality Check — Every finished piece is inspected for color vibrancy, pattern integrity, and overall quality before it's ready to find its person.

Materials We Believe In

Great tie-dye starts with great fabric. We work primarily with 100% natural fibers — cotton, rayon, and linen — because they absorb dye beautifully and feel incredible against the skin. We source garments that are soft, durable, and built to hold color wash after wash.

We're committed to using dyes that are safe, colorfast, and as responsibly sourced as possible — because what touches your skin and goes into the world matters to us.
